Riigikogu has finished the first reading of new draft Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Act (MoneyLPA) and draft State Fees Act Amendment Act (8 SE I), which should be considered by so-called cryptocurrency undertakings authorised to operate in the area of providing services of exchanging a virtual currency against a flat currency or providing a virtual currency wallet service, or undertakings applying for such authorisation.

Online sales of counterfeit goods – the Estonian court received reply from the European Court of Justice*
In our earlier publication, we wrote that last summer the Estonian court asked the European Court of Justice a question related to the online sales of counterfeit goods and who can be held responsible for such activities. By now, the European Court of Justice has given its reply. The court finds that also the person, whose role is limited to provision of technical support, but who is clearly aware of sales of counterfeit goods by using such support, can also be held responsible.

Estonian digital paw print in Europe
In December 2000, the Digital Signatures Act entered into force in Estonia. In less than two years, the first contract was concluded by using digital signature and soon electronic identification and digital signatures became part of daily life of Estonian people. When visiting other countries, we allowed ourselves an occasional smirk when looking how natives scanned printed and hand-signed documents into pdf files.
